This is the 2nd class of the Bernina 990 Owner's Class that instructs you on the working of your new or new to you Bernina 990 Embroidery Machine that you purchased at 1st Sewing Center. This is part 1 of the Embroidery section, which will be done in 2 parts.

Learn the foundational skills and items needed to create beautiful machine embroidery. This class will go through the different stabilizers, fabrics, needles, design files, hooping and more. In session 1, you will create your own Stabilizer notebook. In Session 2, we will review Session 1 and work on 2 small projects to understand the basics and prepare you for the types of projects we do in 1st Sewing Center's Embroidery Club.

Embroidery can be fun, but what do you do with all those files? How do you download them? Where do they go after you buy them? This is a basic computer skills class to teach you how to download files via different methods and websites. We will also discuss filing methods and how to get them from your computer to a USB stick so you can load them into your machine.

Instant heirloom! Create a beautiful Christmas tree skirt that will be a family favorite for years to come! You don't have to limit your imagination to just towels though, the applique designs are perfect for shirts, blankets, and decor too.

Free Standing embroidery is a great technique for making those All Hallows' Eve designs to add some fall beauty or spookiness to your decorations. This month you can choose to make some Freestanding Pumpkins or Freestanding Bats to boo'tify your Halloween decorations.

Time for bird number 2 from the "Backyard Bird Quilts" book by Jodie Davis. Tiffany joins us again to create one of Carlos' favorite birds, The American Goldfinch. The bold contrast of the yellow and black of this talkative backyard feeder bird will bring a smile to anyone's face. Tiffany will walk you through the steps to make this fun and beautiful paper-pieced, 8-inch quilt block that you can use to make a variety of different items. Or, combine with the Cardinal from last class and create an even larger project.

Rachel is back for National Strip Set Day (a.k.a. Jelly Roll Day)! This year we are learning to make the Hexie Harmony Quilt. This is the perfect project to learn the potential of the Creative Grids Hexagon Trim Tool. Cut and sew diamonds and trapezoids to make half-hexie blocks, which means there are no inset seams. Cut additional background trapezoids to float the blocks. All you need is thirty-eight 2-1/2-inch strips for the focus fabrics!

Need a little extra space for a project? Wish you could sew with a friend, but don't have the space? Join 1st Sewing Center for Open Sew Thursdays - our Social Event where we open up our classroom for you to work on any project you want. Just bring your machine, your project, and friends and sew the afternoon away in comfort. A $5.00 fee will hold one of the ten available spots. Each participant is required to pay the $5 fee and register online.
