Beautiful Quilt Bindings Workshop

Your quilt isn’t truly finished until it’s bound—and this workshop will show you how to do it with flair! In this fun and informative 3-hour class, you’ll master the French Double Fold binding, the most popular method for clean, durable edges. But we won’t stop there—get ready to explore exciting extras like flanges, piping, and even color changes at the corners for a customized, eye-catching finish.
You’ll also learn how to tackle tricky inside and outside corners, discover when to use bias binding for curves, and finally conquer the mysterious binding join (yes, you’ll get it right every time after this class!). Whether you want classic, crisp edges or a quilt that makes a statement, this workshop will give you the tools and confidence to wrap up your masterpieces beautifully.
Bring your creativity, and leave with the know-how to turn raw edges into wow edges!
At the end of these classes, you will be able to:
- Determine the correct seam width of for attaching the binding, so the stitching totally covers all the raw edges with a completely and properly filled binding
- Attach binding with a mitered corner
- Insert a straight cut as well as bias cut flange into your binding
- Inserting a straight cut as well as bias cut piping into your binding
- Join binding fabrics at the corners
- Connect the start and end of the binding strips with a diagonal seam

| Instructor Bio: | Twila Richter, a Twin Cities quilter and teacher, discovered her passion for art quilting after being inspired by Caryl Bryer Fallert’s work. Her quilts have been exhibited nationally, including at the Museum of the American Quilter Society in Paducah, KY, and one now resides at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. An award-winning quilter, she enjoys sharing her expertise through classes and presentations at quilt shops and guilds. |
